How many sizes can I expect to lose within 4 to 5 months on a diet and exercise plan, if I really stick to it?
I have been on a diet for over a year now, and have lost close to 70 pounds, and I am needing to lose at least another 45 to 50 pounds, and my weight loss is at a stand still, I have hit a major plateua, and I am exercising, but I want to reach my full potential to really be physically fit and look & feel great. I am doing an indoor walking routine 10 min, 3 times a day at least 5 days a week, and I am doing Urban Rebounding 20 minutes a day 3 days a week, plus lifting hand weights, I do a 10 minute routine with that at least 3 days a week. What more must I do to achieve my fitness goals to really get my body in tip top shape? How long will it take to reach my fitness goals if I keep working hard and dilligently at it and how many sizes can I expect to drop within 4 to 5 months? Is there any way I can acheive my goal within this time frame, I’m between a size 14 & 12 now, and would like to get to a size 8. My problem area is the lower half of my body. What kind of game plan do I need?

I’m not trying to rude…but if you have 40lbs to lose, you are still eating too much. Try to cut back the amount of food you eat…maybe to half of what you eat right now. That is still enough to keep you healthy.

I would say to expect to keep losing weight at a similar pace to what it’s been in the past. To break your plateau, you might want to try up-day/down-day dieting. One day you eat what you would normally on your diet, and the next day you eat about 200-300 calories more. It helped me break my plateau.

S far sizes, it’s hard to really say without knowing height, body type, etc. I’ve lost about 30 pounds and have dropped from a 24 to a 20, but I’m also 5′10" and bottom heavy.

Good luck with your weight loss. It’s a tough road to go down, but the rewards at the end are great.

Congradulations! You’re doing so good, and becoming so healthy.
Have faith that you can continue this journey to the best & healthiest you can be.

Hmm … Plateua’s need serious change to get out of. I would guess if no change is made then you would drop another 10 pounds in 4 to 5 months.

To return to the healthy 2-3 pound loss will require changes. "Dieting" (Cantelope or grapefruit for max week) within the "Changing Your Life Style" can shock the metabolism to excel past this — don’t do it alone, seek guidance from doctor/ nutritionalist. An exercise change is also needed. I’d start lifting "Heavy Weights" Don’t worry unless you’re on steriroids or creatin, you won’t look like a "She-Man". You may want to get a personal trainer and specify that you want to lift heavy weights. You’ll be doing stuff like the boys … bench press: 50-60 pounds to start (which usually is the bar) by doing 8 reps and 4 set’s of the 8 reps. This weight lifting will jump start that metabolism and then you could possibly drop 32 Pounds in 4 months — 40 pounds in 5 months.

Best wishes, you can do anything if you love yourself.

Congratulations on your 70 lb weight loss. I would recommend changing your workout to 3 days weight training and 3 days cardio training. On the days that you weight train, start out with 10 minutes of cardio just to warm your muscles up. For example on Mon, Wed, Fri do weight training and Tue, Thur, Sat do 30 minutes of cardio. Rest on Sunday. I would also recommend adding squats and lunges to your leg routine. Squats are the greatest overall work out and will take care of that lower half you’re concerned about. Healthy weight loss is about 2 lbs a week which is 8 lbs a month. In 4 months thats 32 lbs. Also, don’t be as concerned with weight as much as body fat percentage. Have a trained professional measure your body fat so that you’ll know where you stand. Eat 5 small meals a day with plenty of protein and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Your body will actually hold extra water if your not drinking enough of it as a self defense against dehydration. Try to stay away from fried foods and high sugar foods and drinks. Your’e diet is 60% of the battle. Good luck.
