    is eating 700-900 calories ok?
i also burn 400. so, i know its not ideal, but it’s the amount i need to eat to maintain my current stats (i’m 16, 5′7.5 and 95lbs), i know i’m underweight, but this is the highest i’ll allow myself to go. i’m anorexic and see many people about my ‘problem’ but it doesn’t really help, my nutritionalist expects me to eat obscene amounts just like that and weigh 135lbs!!! i’m used to majorly restricting 0-200 cals, so this is a lot of food. i’ve messed my body up a great deal already, (infertile, going to develop severe osteoporisis, bad eyesight the list goes on….) but i’ve been told by the doctor that i’m never going to be able to recover, well i can eat healthy and get to a ‘healthy’ weight but i’m always going to be fighting with the anorexia in my head 24/7, so i figure, whats the point. i’m sorry but i’d rather be thin and unhappy than fat and uphappy. so, is 700-900 calories way too little? i feel so fat and bloated, i think its a healthy step anyway

The bloated feeling you feel is not because your fat…

When will people realize that your body actually starts to store fat when you starve it???? Your body WILL find a way to get what it needs, even if it means eating itself from the inside on out. What you are doing makes no sense and is dangerous.

So to be honest, you’re actually fatter than you realize…your body is just hiding it because you won’t feed it…you are at your leanest when your body has good solid nutrition consistently throughout the day.

    700-900 is wayyyy too little.

I’m sorry, but the way you’re eating will probably leave you unable to have kids, pale, gaunt, unhealthy, unfit and lead you to an early grave.
You seem to have a mental disorder, that’s what anorexia is anyway. Seriously, just eat healthy - don’t worry about calories, just eat stuff like porridge for breakfast, soup or chicken in pitta bread for lunch, and fish with vegetables for dinner. Snack on fruit & nuts in between and exercise - there’s no way you’ll get fat living on this!

700–900 calories is STILL way too little (the average person should consume about 2000 calories a day), but you shouldn’t suddenly start increasing your caloric intake that dramatically. Going from very little food to an average or above average amount of food is very dangerous. My suggestion is work with 700-900 calories a day for a while (talk with your doctor to determine exactly how long), and gradually work your way up to 2000. You should go over all of this with your doctor, of course. But you are right in that what you are doing is healthy. You know that you have a problem and are doing everything you can to fix it, even though it requires many baby steps along the way. Good luck and I hope you get better!

If you keep on like this you will die. I think you have a severe depression and you have to do something about this. Coincidentally i am 5′7.5 as well and weigh 130 lbs and not to be cocky or anything, but I have a gorgeous body and I am 100% happy with it and so is my boyfriend! My friends are always complementing me on how i do to have such a nice figue. Being our height and your weight just seems like a crazy idea to me! Eating 700-900 calories is too little and burning more than half is even worse. Go live a little, eat whatever you feel like eating. I mean, i am not saying don’t watch what you eat because I do, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t have a piece of cake, or candy. Guys like girls with some meat on their bones, not some girl that just looks like bones! I hope you get better and start realizing that being that skinny is horrible and doesn’t even look nice.

If a nurse found out thats all you were eating you would be in REAL trouble i’m not going to be nice do you want to be striped of your clothes and items and put into an empty room untill you are forced to eat and get over this eating disorder because that it what you could be facing! You need to eat at LEAST 1200 claories a day (after the burnt amount) for your body to survive. Your body is eating itself it will take blood from your spine it will eat your own organs this is serious. You need help find someone to speak to you didn’t have a helpful doctor you can get better and make your body get as best it can if you keep on this way you could be dead in a few years.
Best of luck please get help.

I thought 700 calories were the average amount you should eat too, but my mom told me that it’s starving yourself. I think you’re supposted to eat up to like 1,500 calories a day. But still i’m 5′5.5 and i weight a little over 120 and you’re 5′8" and 95 pounds, but it’s good your getting help and your on your way! 2 thumbs up!!! you can be a modle these days looking the way you are, but i’m definatly not encouraging you to keep starving your self!

You already know its not ok and its nowhere near enough but its a start. Why does it have to be thin and unhappy or fat and unhappy? Why don’t you think you will ever be happy? If you start thinking about living your life instead of counting calories maybe you’ll find happiness and a healthy weight too.
I’m not saying its easy but refusing to eat instead of sorting out the real problems isn’t going to help you.

Sounds like you already got some help but I hope as you mature more you will realise you can eat 1500 calories a day of good healthy grub and burn some of these calories off with a bit of exercise and have a body that 100% of the female population would be envious of. (& be healthy, happy & full of energy and ENJOY LIFE) YOUR ONLY HERE ONCE DON’T WASTE IT

Well done. You’ve come a long way. Most people, in order to LOSE weight, go down to 1000 - 1200 cals but I find I can maintain on only a little more. Any more and I gain. Can you get your daily intake up to the 900 on most days?. If you can be comfy with that for a while I think it would be better than 700 and it would help the depression. Then you might be able to push up to 1000. Don’t take your doctors word - I believe you CAN make it. And enjoy life. A lot of us are fighting all sorts of invisible battles in side. But trust me, it’s worth it. God bless.

I suffered from bulimia nervosa for 4 years, and during my recovering battled anorexia as well… I know exactly what you mean by the thought struggles being there 24/7… but if you stick with it, and commit your self to getting healthy, you do gradually start thinking more "normally" It took me a while, but now (3 1/2 years later) I don’t think about food, or my appearance, or how fat or thin someone else is, or how fat or thin they might think I am… Those thoughts are re-directed now, I am healthy, I just had a beautiful baby girl (something at 19 they told me couldn’t happen because I messed my system up so bad), and my esophagus is almost completley healed now (from the stomach acid it was half way eaten up)… and I got in for another ultrasound on my kidney tomorrow actually to see how it’s doing, but I haven’t had any infection for 4 months (which is amazing). Everything is slowly getting better and healing itself, your body is an amazing thing, you wouldn’t believe what its capable of doing. You are taking a step in the right direction by seeking help, it’s not something you can do on your own, but it is something "you" have to do.
Healthy isn’t fat. I run on my treadmill every day and do weight training, I eat healthy foods between 1300-1600 calories per day. I am healthy. Everyday I told myself that I was eating to get healthy, exercising to get healthy etc. I didn’t believe it, I was really doing it because everyone else was making me… but I told myself I was, over time, I realised I really was doing it to get healthy, I started believing myself more and more. Here is a great website with some information, try looking at some of the book suggestions, the treatment page, and the "Starving Souls" those are some great links from the site that you might like.
