you said a good protein with high calories??...so im guessing you are using some kind of weight gainer protein?...anyways yes those are okay, but see the problem with those is that most weight gainers use alot of carbs, sugars, and cholesterol to get those higher calories that you are seeing, and yes they will put on weight fast but obviously not without fat gain along with it...I can suggest two things to counter this...the first one is that you dont buy a weight gainer protein powder you buy a regular protein powder, the absolute best powder you can buy is made by a company called AST, and their product is AST VP2...look it up on bodybuilding.com... the other suggestion i have for you is to make your own weight gainer shake instead of buying the store bought ones with the high carbs and sugars and stuff...what you do is get 1-2 cups of whole milk, a banana, 2 teaspoons of chocolate syrup, 2 big spoonfulls of peanutbutter, and then 1 or 2 scoops of normal portein powder...blend this all up for a great natural weight gainer shake.....or else you can always resort to throw cardio in like 30 minutes of cardio before your workout
References :
Question on protein supplements and weight gain?
I have been taking some very good protein supplements that are also high in calories and consumed daily. Couple this with going to the gym every other day and I am experiencing some nice gains in size. My chest and shoulders are showing the most improvement and my arms are right behind that. My concern is with this high calorie intake, my stomach is losing definition and I am getting a gut. I do crunches but no cardio, just pure weight lifting. I'm 5-10 and working up to a lean 160 but I don't want to have my abs out of shape for summer and at the same time, I don't want to slow down too much on the building? Any advise would be appreciated.
