The second sentence is correct. the lungs pass oxygen to the cardiovascular system and take carbon dioxide from it.
References :
RN

Ummmm wrong. First the Circulatory System circulates oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.We take in Oxygen not Carbon Dioxide. They do have a relationship. All wrong here. We release carbon dioxide. It is taken in through the mouth the larynx then down the trachea then out through the two main bronchial tubes then the lungs.
References :
Anatomy.

oxygen poor blood goes to the heart via the vena cava to the right atrium, then the pulmonic valve then the right ventricle pumps the oxygen poor blood through the pulmonary artery into the pulmonary system then returns to the left atrium via pulmonary vein. so this oxygen rich blood then goes into the left ventricle after passing through the mitra valve then to the aortic artery to the rest of the body.
References :
EMT
