How come you feel fuller from eating a higher-calorie food, if nutrients are absorbed in the intestine?

Why would you feel fuller from eating a doughnut vs. an apple for example, if your body doesn’t absorb the calories from the food until it reaches the intestine? Both foods would occupy around the same volume in your stomach, so isn’t it the calories that cause the feeling of fullness? Are the calories absorbed earlier, or does your body somehow know that a food is more calorie-rich, or what?

How many calories should I eat and how do I lose weight with my treadmill?

I’m 28 years old and weigh 155 pounds. I would like to get back down to 130. I’ve recently just purchased a treadmill which I’ve been walking on every day. I usually go by the calories I burn and I usually burn 500+ calories each time I walk but I still am having a hard time losing weight. How many calories should I eat each day and how many should I burn off in order to start losing this weight?

To maintain your weight, you should eat 100x the amount of calories that you weigh… so you way 155lbs, in order to maintain your weight how it is, you would eat 1550 calories a day. if your burning 500 calories a day you can add 500 calories to your daily intake. so in order to stay exactly the weight you are, you would eat 2050 calories a day. No one needs to eat that much. to lose weight i would say eat 1200 calories a day and keep up the workouts. running burns more calories than walking as well.
My friend is studying all of this right now in college and explained it all to me becuase im also overweight.
Remember though, its not always about how much you weigh. you can stay at 155lbs but be thinner by toning.
The more muscle you have the easier you burn calories too:D

Another thing to add to all of this, is try to drink a lot of water. Try to remember to have a cup of water after everytime you pee, it will help flush your system, keep you hydrated, and also help keep you a little full so you dont want to munch all day. and drink water when your watching tv and stuff. so you dont munch:) thats what i do, helps me lose weight easily:D

Is there a low calorie recipe for a chocolate chip cookie cake?

I want to make a low calorie chocolate chip cookie cake, I need to know if there’s a recipe. I tried googling it and found nothing. If anyone knows how to actually make one please post the recipe for me. Also the nutrition if they could :] Don’t be mean either!
Oh stop your bitching. There’s recipes for "low calorie brownies" and everything else. I don’t even wanna hear the b.s. You can make anything low calorie nowadays.

Sorry, I don’t personally know of any, but my suggestion would be to find a recipe that sounds good to you and substitute healthier, low-cal ingredients to reduce it’s total caloric count.

For example, use stevia, agave nectar, or maple syrup for the sugar, (or splenda, if you must), soy flour for the white flour (contains more protein & is much lower in carbs), and use the darkest chocolate (with the highest pure cacao percentage) you can find. Also you might use nut butters for the frosting.

Actually, you should check the raw food websites (ie: Alyssa Cohen, Matt Monarch, etc.) as I have seen many healthy vegan cake and cookie recipes there, and they may have exactly what you need!

How do I work out my hourly calorie consumption from this data?

I know, for example, that I burn 77 calories doing a certain activity for 15 minutes. Therefore it is easy to work out what that is for an hourly rate - I just multiply 77 by four. But what if I do the same activity but at a different intensity - perhaps I’m more tired the second time, and don’t work as hard, what then? How could I calculate the hourly rate if the calories burned in 18 minutes were 114?

Assume I’m using a calorie-burned wrist watch device.

divide the calories by the number of minutes (114 divided by 18 is 6.34) this will give you the number of calories you have burned in one minute. Then multiply the answer by 60 - this will give you the hourly rate.

Ok, Im planning on buying a small salad from the school cafeteria. It usually has about 2 cups of mixed greens or lettuce, a tablespoon of chedder cheese, a few small olives, and i use light italian dressing which is 15 calories per serving. How many calories do you think my salad has all together? Also Im planning on having about a cup of mixed berries (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries). How many calories do you think my lunch will be all together? And is this too much?

I think your lunch only has about 300 or so calories…which is not really enough! You should have closer to about 500 calories per meal and I think you need some type of protein in there too.
