I’m wondering what the best exercises are to get into peak cardiovascular shape are. I don’t mean to necessarily "lose weight" but to get into tip top athletic cardio shape.

note: I don’t have hours to spend on marathon running, nor do I believe that’s necessary.

What affect dose exercise have on the cardiovascular system and the heart? some one help i am really stuck

In the short term (During exercise) the heart pumps at a faster rate to provide oxygen to the muscles, and intern calls for heavier breathing to supply the lungs with air to feed oxygen to the heart.
In the long term (as you get fitter through exercise) the heart gets stronger and both heart and cardiovascular system becomes more efficient at providing oxygen, so that they do not have to work as hard in to provide oxygen in the future.

Other ways of cardiovascular training than running?

I am having my toe nails shortened soon so i wont be able to run for 2-3 weeks, and i need to keep on top of and improve my cardiovascular fitness over the next 2 months because im due to start basic trainng for the Army. Therefore what other ways other than biking would be for this, bearing in mind it cannot involve my feet/toes holding too much pressure. And swimming is not an option either.

how do u determine if the exercise you r doing is cardiovascualr????

HM..basically any exercises that need you to move a lot and involving most of your body parts. example: jogging, cycling, kick boxing, swimming, dancing, skipping…you got the idea? the exercises focuses more than one part of you muscles… not like weight exercises, where you are focusing on just certain part of your muscle. cardio workouts are excellent in burning fat because they help to increase you body metabolism.
