What is the best way to choose a diet plan?
Saturday, August 14th, 2010I am a stay at home mom to 2 small children. I do most of the cooking and desperately need a Diet plan. I need to loose at least 40 pounds and my husband needs to loose a little more. I am a complete idiot when it comes to dieting. What are to best plans when cooking for a family. My children are not picky but when it comes to dieting my husband is. We are also on a budget so we can’t buy the expensive diet plans. Is there a free website that comes with recipes? Are there any safe over the counter diet pills or detox pills that actually work?
I cannot afford a gym membership but I do have a gazelle but i don’t know how often or for how long at a time to use it.
Dieting simply does not work. You need to change your food choices to healthy ones. Diet pills can be dangerous and lead to worse problems than being overweight.
I recommend that you start out slow with this, but try to eat healthy early in the day with the following foods. I think you will find that your body is satisfied with healthier foods and you won’t be reaching for the bad ones as often. Also, these foods are likely to be less expensive than what you are buying today.
1) Fish (salmon), eggs or some grass-fed beef. Don’t be shy about eating meats. Just ensure that the beef is grass-fed (no antibiotics or hormones.) If they are grain fed, then you are not getting the same amount of valuable nutrients.
2) A salad consisting of a mix of kale, chard, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, olives, dried tomatoes, avocados, plus, kidney or pinto beans, walnuts, dried raspberries, and add in olive oil (lots) and lemon juice.
3) Fruits: apples, blueberries, pears are all fruits that are not too high in sugar content. Have some hard cheese with is, preferably swiss.
Absolutely stay away from any grains (cereals, pastas, breads.) This is where the extra weight on Americans comes from (in addition to sugar snacks.) Try to stay away from the soft drinks and stick with water.
The good news is that you can eat all you want on the meats and vegetables. Your body will let you know when you are full.
Good luck and have patience.

You don’t necessarily need less food.
for pure weight loss, you essentially want to burn more calories than you consume. The basic three types of calories are fats, sugars, and carbs. Sugars are simpler molecules, so they burn faster, which is why some people get a "sugar high" and crash, they get a lot of energy from the sugar, than as soon as it is burnt they have no energy left. Carbs are more complex molecules, they provide more energy but take more to break down. Your body converts unused sugar and carbs into fat for storage. Fat takes as much energy to burn as carbs, and your body doesn’t need to convert it, so it really doesn’t have much going for it, unless you are planning on hibernating in a cave.
To sum that up, you want to do aerobic activities like running, jogging, biking, swimming ect. Try to reduce the amount of fat you consume. 1500 Calories is a good goal, it is better to intake higher calories and exercise than it is to be sedentary and eat less. The reason being is your body will burn fat as it "warms up" so you want to add energy in, burn it and your body will supplement with already stored fat, so you lose it.
The fact that you are weight training as well, you should eat before or immediately after you work out, get some protein in your Diet.
What’s the difference between vegan and a raw vegan?
Monday, August 9th, 2010I’m thinking of going on a Diet and just wanna know, will there be much of a difference in my results if i where to choose just vegan instead of raw vegan??
Niether is a "diet" (as in weight-loss plan.) To lose weight, simply burn more calories than you consume.
Vegan means you don’t eat, use, wear, purchase or otherwise consume anything of animal origin. Vegans eat fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, fungi like mushrooms and yeast, oils, and everything made from them. Vegans cook and bake, like most people do.
Raw vegans also eat only plant foods, but raw. Nothing is heated over (I believe) 118 degrees under the belief that heat destroys beneficial enzymes.
Whats a good crash diet to choose?
Thursday, August 5th, 2010i’m 13 years old. 5"6. about 170lbs. i tumblie, cheer, play competive and non competive softball. i need a fast crash diet. help?
I’m not looking for points here, I care about your health. The best crash diet is no crash Diet.
Simply hard exercise with cardio and weights and a healthy eating plan. Whatever your body can burn is what it will burn, Safely. Good luck.
choosing the best diet?….?
Monday, August 2nd, 2010im not obese or anything. just want to trim down. what is the best option? i do a lot of exercise already, playing hockey, netball and trampolining.
Firstly, although exercise is beneficial regardless of your diet. However, 80% of your physique is a result of what you eat. 20% is exercise.
So just by making a few changes will help with your weight loss results. Try not to look at it like a diet and continue to make healthy changes. Because once you have reached your realistic target weight. If you go back to your old eating habits, you will put all the weight back on again. It is as simple as that.
Try to eat a balanced, low fat Diet of: -
Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, low fat dairy products, skimmed milk, sugar free beverages, and non sugary cereals.
Try also to include more wholefoods into your your diet. Such as brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, beans & pulses. These are high in fiber and will keep you feeling fuller for longer.
DO keep all JUNK FOODS, ready made processed meals, alcohol, sugary fizzy drinks, and takeaway meals to an absolute minimum. These are all high in refined sugar and full of saturated fat. The two main ingredients which are responsible for that extra weight gain. Junk food is just what it says - JUNK. With one added ingredient in - FAT.
As you have already said you exercise on a regular basis. Getting regular exercise is one of the strongest indicators of long-term success. Not only does it burn calories and increase metabolism-boosting muscle, it also boosts self esteem and beats stress.
Good Luck.
