why did the doctor put this man on a crash diet?

i was watching t.v about a very over weight man who was so big that he found it hard to walk. the doctor put him straight on a crash Diet but i thought crash dieting was really unsafe?

Did you watch the rest of the show?
They do that to gastric bypass and lapband patients b/c if they don’t lose at least some weight pre-surgery, they would probably die.

There is a major difference between being 20 pounds overweight and being 200-300 pound overweight.

It’s a risk/benefit ratio. The fatter/unhealthier you are when they put you under anasthetic, the higher the chance is you will die.

Crash dieting is unsafe for most of us, but when you have 300 pounds to lose, you really can’t get "less" healthy than you already are.

What is a crash diet and does it work especially if you’re my weight?

I want to go on a crash Diet but im a little confused as to what it involves. Im 24 yrs old, 5′4 and weigh 52kgs but im very eager to lose 5 kgs fast as im going on holidays soon and want to be able to wear a bikini. What is a crash diet and would it be beneficial for me? thanks

It is feasible to lose weight fast but you should be realistic and accept that if you lose weight rapidly then you will almost certainly put it all back on again just as rapidly. I lost 8 pounds during the last couple of weeks when I had a special celebration to attend, and I did it by following the guidance presented on the web resource in the box below.

eating normal after a crash diet without gaining weight?

I sort of developed an eating disorder 6 months back and now I am trying to fix it but when I do eat normal then I gain weight so then I crash diet again without eating. I know this effed up my metabolism, but what can I do to fix it how can I eat healthy and not gain back all the weight I lost?

I need to lose some weight and I need to do it in one week. I’m going to crash Diet, but was wondering the best way to do it, the best things to eat and how much water I should drink. This isn’t something I plan on doing long-term, but it’s a quick fix. Any ideas?

you still need breakfast to kick start your metabolism, still need some protein every 3 hours.

limit most of your carbs to before lunch time.
get out and do some hard biking or wind sprints for 30 minutes 2 times a day.

drink water with every meal.

have a little fruit before bed to give yourself some brain fuel or you will feel like crap and have no energy the next morning.

if you have some multi vitamins have a couple spread throughout the day

How come I didn’t gain back the weight that I lost from my crash diet?

I’ve been off the Diet for almost a year ( but I have relapsed and done it again a few times though )
But I never gained back the weight o-o .
Does it have to do with how my body works or something?
If this helps, I do 30+ pushups and V-sits everyday at night before I sleep.

How can I start eating normally again after a crash diet, without putting the weight back on?

I know crash Diets aren’t exactly good for you but dates got changed and I need to lose the weight (approx. 14 pounds) faster.
I’m eating a maximum of 1200 calories per day and drinking at least 2 litres of water but, once I get to the weight I want to be, how do I start eating normally without piling the pounds back on?

.Just gradually up your calorie intake, and keep exercising. 1200 cals/day isn’t excessively low, but it’s as low as you should go.
