What diet and workouts to follow to gain muscle if currently underweight?

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

I am underweight- about 130 lbs, and about 5′ 11" (5 foot 11 in). I am very skinny/scrawny/bony but do try to work out. What kind of diet should I follow and what workouts should I try to aim for to gain more muscle and look healthier? Please some suggestions would really help.

Eat a low carb high protein Diet and exercise with both cardio and resistance training. Dr Atkins low carb diet is a great way to reduce body fat, and because of the high protein, you wont lose muscle.
Exercise always take care of your body by drinking lots of milk and water every days do at least 30 sit ups per week and by 2 weeks you could lose up to almost 10 pounds

Any good diet plans or websites for someone who is severely overweight and wants to get motivated?

I am now a whopping 377 lbs and have bad back problems so exercise is almost impossible. I need a strict diet plan and low impact workout plan to get me started. I really need help here. Thank you.

Setting yourself on a strict Diet can actually be counterproductive, because many times people find that they can’t stick to such a strict regimen and they end up "cheating" on the diet…feeling guilty…and well, you can see how this creates a negative cycle.

Do some research, read labels, etc. Eat a healthy diet without starving yourself. If you are a soda drinker, just replacing soda with water can make a tremendous difference.

Moderate walking daily or every other day would probably be the best exercise for you considering your weight. Someone of your size can actually burn a considerable amount of calories just walking at a moderate pace for 20-30 minutes.

Does the cabbage soup diet actually work? How much weight have people lost on this diet?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I’ve tried this Diet before, only I ended up giving in after only a few days! But was wondering what people’s experiences of doing this diet are? Is it worth me trying again? I have about 7 pounds to lose in a week!

Baby.. Crash diets are the surest way of not doing Weight Reduction procedures. Skipping meals and living on Cabbage Soup deprives your body of a whole lot of vital macro and micro nutrients.. It is not beneficial in the long run to indulge in such unscientific methods (pl don’t mind the pun..)

You have not given any statistics on your height / weight.. Going by your measure of 7 pounds to lose per week..

It has been calculated that 1 pound of body fat is equal to 3500 calories. This means that in order to lose 1 pound we have to walk for about 12.5 hours. So don’t expect fast weight loss and remember to eat sensibly.

Just like you don’t eat once a week and stock up for the whole week’s body requirements, exercising once a week is also a non-starter (no benefit). To get tangible benefits out of your exercise regimen, you must sweat it out vigorously at least 5 times a week for 30-45 minutes sessions each.

Eating vegetables (more importantly, shunning non-veg - as they have more calories per unit weight) is only one step in the weight reduction process.

Diet, Supplementation, Exercise, Positive Mental Attitude - all these are required for a decent weight loss program. Patience and persistence are also very critical virtues in your endeavour.

You must try Amway’s Positrim Healthy Living Weight Management Program to reduce weight systematically without starving your body of essential nutrients. you may get in touch with me for your requirements and i can guide you on how to buy them..

What is the best diet for my guppy fry to prevent spinal defects?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

I have been raising 23 guppies for a couple of weeks. Initially, it seemed that the fry were very healthy, but recently I’ve noticed that a few of them seem to be developing spinal defects. This indicates to me that I have not been feeding them a proper Diet. What is the best diet for me to feed my guppy fry to prevent such defects? I have been feeding them an assortment of crushed up flake food, crushed up freeze dried blood worms, and specialty fry food.

There’s an article in Tropical Fish Keeping about curvature of the spine.

It says:

The most common causes of spinal deformity in fish are internal mycobacterial infestion that damages the bones; old age; a nutritional problem, such as lack of bone building minerals in the diet; or a developmental deformity, perhaps genetic.

What is a safe diet pill when you are already at a healthy weight?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I know people will say that I shouldn’t want to take Diet pills if I am already at a healthy weight. 2 years ago I quit smoking, I ended up gaining 10 lbs. I have been trying for 2 years to lose those 10 lbs but I can’t do it. I would like a diet pill that doesn’t make me jittery and one that is safe for me to take even though I’m not overweight. Thanks for all suggestions!

acai berry pills are very good for giving you a perfect balance of energy, antioxidants, and they help get rid of unnecessary weight.

What is the best type of diet to feed a kitten/cat?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

I got a kitten last week and I’m trying to decide what type of diet to put her on. Right now, she’s eating all dry food, as that’s what she was on when I got her. I would prefer to feed her a raw meats diet, but that’s not a realistic choice for me right now. What’s the best I can do for her without being able to do a raw Diet?

dry food can wreck a kitten’s liver and kidneys(vets know that which is bizarre) only feed pouched or canned food with minimum cereal filler with occasional raw meat
