I am on a diet but I eat mostly breakfast cereals and wheaten bread. What other foods can I eat?

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I am on a Diet. I eat breakfast cereals such as special k and coco pops for most meals like breakfast lunch and dinner. I also eat alot of wheaten bread. I don’t know what other foods to eat because I don’t really want to eat just vegetables and fruit all the time. What other foods could I eat for meals that are healthy and prefect for dieting?

You seem to be missing a serious amount of protein. Also, why would you eat Cocoa Pops on a DIET?!

What is the best breakfast for someone on a diet?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

I have been having cereals that have a serving size of 1 cup for breakfast every day for a while, and I have been losing weight. However, I just read that cereals are highly processed, and the chemicals can make you gain weight (not from some random person, but a nutritionist.) If this is true, what’s a good LOW-CALORIE supplement (he suggested brown rice, oatmeal, etc. which I would rather avoid.)? Thank you!

What’s wrong with having Honey Nut Cheerios or any other cereal for breakfast while on a diet?

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

I’m on a Diet and for breakfast every morning I have cereal. This morning I had Honey Nut Cheerios. People are saying I should feel guilty about that, and that cereal consists of "empty calories". Is this true? Is eating cereal really that bad for you?

all i meant was that you basically ate all carbs for the day. this wont satisfy you and you will end up feeling hungry sooner compared to if you ate a balanced meal/diet. the right proteins help keep you full and provide nutrition for your body while cereals like honey nut cheerios wont keep you as satisfied. some cereals and bars are loaded with high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils (aka trans fat) and preservatives. the healthier option would be eggs/egg whites with whole wheat toast, toast with natural peanut butter, milk, cottage cheese with fruit. a balance of carbs and proteins.

Starting a new diet, need some examples of a small meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Im starting my New diet today. Now i know your suppose to eat 5-6 small meals every 3 hours. But i don’t know what are some good breakfast, snacks, and dinner foods that meet that criteria. So my question is what are some example of small meals i can eat for breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Thanks

Breakfast: yogurt, granola, fresh berries
Whole grain cereal with dried fruit
Egg white omelette with a grapefruit

Snack: Almonds
Laughing cow cheese with wheat thins
Fruit
carrot sticks

Lunch: Whole grain bread (toasted) with avacado as a spread + sliced tomatoes + turkey bacon
Pasta salad ( whole grain spiral pasta loaded with shredded carrots, tomatoes, olives, broccoli, chicken, and pesto sauce)
Chicken salad ( I use canned chicken, italian dressing, chopped veggies, walnuts, dried cranberries)
Veggie wrap
Veggie burger ( I buy frozen veggie burger patties)

Snack:
Fruit Smoothie ( my favorite is banana, strawberries, vanilla yogurt, peanut butter)
Mixed nuts ( Unsalted)
Celery + peanut butter

Dinner:
Mixed green salad with some type of protein (Salmon or Chicken are good choices) and a light dressing
Turkey + avacado burgers
Veggie stir fry

Those are just a few examples I could think of at the moment. Alot of the times I make a big batch of soup on the weekend and eat that as my lunch or dinner throughout the week. I read that giving yourself less than 3 options for mealtimes really helps you stick with your Diet and I find that to be very true.. so make yourself a menu and write it down. Write down what your going to eat everyday before you walk into the kitchen and stick to it. Good luck with your diet.

In a diet i know eggs for breakfast is good so do breakfast hot pockets count?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

I really dont like eggs but i recently found that i love love love breakfast hot pockets. the have egg cheese and ham or egg cheese and bacon and i get lean pockets so theres only like 7 grams of fat. are those a good enough source of eggs??

They have a lot of preservatives.
Try this: Take a whole wheat tortilla, scramble an egg or two, whatever your taste is, and throw in lowfat natural cheese, chopped onions, peppers, and other light veggies, sprinkle on salt and pepper, and eat with a banana and a glass of milk. Delicious, fresher, and infinately healthier than any Hot Pocket! :)
