Does the calories shifting diet (calorie cycling) actually work?

Friday, August 27th, 2010

I’m 5′10 and 114.5 -115 pounds. I used to be 120 pounds and I haven’t really noticed a difference in my body since I lost weight. I want to lose a couple more pounds so I will have a flat stomach. That is the only reason I tried to lose weight in the first place, but I still have a belly and it bothers me. So, I want to try the calories shifting Diet. But I want to know if it really works first.
Thanks!

Absolutely, the calorie shifting diet certainly does work. I used it last year before my wedding to lose some weight and had great results. I started losing weight really fast, but slipping up on my cheat days slowed me down. If you follow it correctly you could lose around 4lbs a week. I still use it now and then to maintain myself if I feel like I’m starting to gain again.

Could I eat a 1200 calorie diet and lose weight, or should I stick to 1500 calories?

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

I am 105 Kg, Male and 182 cm tall. I am currently losing weight on a 1500 calorie Diet, but since I am eating better (not fast food) I am finding it hard to eat everything.

My wife is on 1200 calories, If I ate 1200 calories would I lose weight or go in to calorie shock?

Well since it seems you are on 1500 calories at the moment I think you should remain there for a week and a half then slowly change your weight to 1400 calories and then wait a couple of weeks and aim for 1300. Take baby steps.

I think you should just stick to 1300 calories or 1200 calories because men actually need more calories in order to function correctly and not have a calorie shock. If you feel its to drastic then go to 1400 calories.

Is rice of any use in a human diet or is it empty calories?

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I have a fondness for rice, but I was wondering, is it acceptable as a nutritious food, or am I sabotaging my Diet with empty calories?

I remember a story about how, when polished rice was first invented, it was considered a delicacy, and only available to the wealthy (e.g. royalty). However, because it was devoid of the nutritional value of unpolished rice, many members of the ruling class died due to malnutrition. These days, some nutrients are added to polished rice (thus, the package usually states that the rice should not be drained). And rice bran (sold by NutraCea–I think the company holds the patent on the process used for stabilizing it) is extremely rich in nutrients. From what I’ve read, it’s the only non-animal product that contains all the amino acids necessary for humans.

how many pounds can i lose in 3 weeks if i eat a strict 1200 calorie diet and work off 1100 calories?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

I am just curious because i want to lose some eight before college. i do exercise this much now but haven’t changed my Diet. i’m 5′3 and about 150 pounds. thanks!

Hi Mari

I don’t know how often I wrote it down here already but losing weight stands and falls with WHAT you eat. You could eat 1200 calories of lets say hamburgers, or you could eat meals with around 250 calories (vegetables!) five times a day. And the good thing when you do it that way is there’s almost no need for extra cardio training. And really no need for working 1100 calories off. Why? Remember 1200 calories per day are already less then your daily needs. The conclusion is simple, go for 5 meals รก 250 calories a day and do soft training. That way you lose weight and stay healthy.

1200 calorie diet? Does it work and is it bad not to be able to consume 1200 calories a day?

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I’ve been on this Diet for 4 days now and I like it a lot. I’m never hungry and I haven’t been able to reach 1200 calories yet, I usually only take it around 800 but I’m trying to up it. I’m 5′7 and weigh 240 lbs, is it odd for me to be unable to reach my goal of 1200 calories a day?

Get yourself up to 1200 even if your not hungry or you WILL gain it all back listen to me truly.Even if you don’t want to eat it anyways.

Calorie Shifting Techniques Make Any Bog Standard Low Calorie Diet Into a Fat Burning Miracle

Calorie Shifting techniques

Fact most low calorie diets don’t work because of the bodies in built survival mechanism which compels the body to adjust to famine conditions – real or manufactured.

The simple theory of weight If your calorie intake is < energy output your body will be forced to burn stored fat to make up the deficient.

Thus the low calorie diet is born. Unfortunately there is one fatal flaw in this theory.

After a few days on a low calorie diet your body start thinking famine. Once it’s in famine it takes emergency measures to protect itself by matching energy output with calorie intake.

After a few days on a low calorie Diet your body slows your metabolism reducing energy output and trigger food craving just to make sure your doing what ever it take to secure every available calorie.

Even if you fight off the food cravings weight loss will begin to slow and then stop as the body adjusts to new intake levels.

All this will make you feel pretty crappy your energy levels with be low and your enthusiasm waning. Constant fatigue makes exercise a mere fantasy. Within a couple of weeks you give up and give in your cravings.

Depression and self pity kick in and you go on a food binge your body starts laying fat like crazy, its hoarding calories now to protect itself against future famines. Soon you’re heavier than when you started

If this sound familiar don’t worry with the revolutionary calorie shifting method or body shock technique pioneered by the weight loss control centre’s best selling "Fat Loss for Idiots" can change everything.

This is where calorie shifting comes in.

Calorie shifting works like this.

Take any reasonably sound low calorie diet that can be sustained over a period of time
Calculate the total recommended calorie intake for an 11 day cycle.

For example 1500* calories x 11 == 16500 calories.
*This number will vary from person to person

You then eat a different amount of calories everyday but reaching the total of 16500 on the last day.  For example

Day 1 1000 calories total 1000

Day 2 2000 calories total 3000

Day 3 1500 calories total 4500

Day 4 500 calories total 5000

Day 5 2000 calories total 7000

Day 6 1000 calories total 8000

I am sure you get the idea.

Faced with this seesawing calorific intake your body won’t know if it’s coming or going whether it’s feast or famine. This will prevent any of the normal problems associated with low calorie diets.

Combined with all the usual metabolism boosting tricks like exercising, having smaller more frequent meals, and high metabolism  foods this technique is one of the best weight loss programs available.

When on a 1200-1500 calorie diet and working off 500 calories?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I am on a 1200-1500 calorie Diet I work out 5 days a week and depending on the workout of the day I burn anywhere from 300 to 600 calories. I was told when on a calorie intake this low you need to add the calories you burn back into your diet or your metabolism will get "out of wake". How many calories out of the ones I burn should I add back into my nutrition?

4 pounds is a lot! Don’t talk down about it. Be proud of yourself! That IS an accomplishment.

Make sure you don’t dip below 1200 cals a day. Your body will go into starvation mode.

Each pound is roughly 3500 calories. If you burn 500 calories a day you will lose one pound a week. If 1200 calories a day is a deficiet for you, you’ll burn an additional pound.

It will also depend on a bit on your weight. I weigh much more than you, 200 pounds, I eat 1600 calories a day and burn 500 and lose 2 pounds a week.

Good luck. You CAN do it! =)
