Monday, June 28th, 2010Why vegetarianism occurs only in Christian community?
Friday, June 25th, 2010Why vegetarianism occurs only in Christian community?
Why Christians are wicked ? they are thinking that they please their god by following sheep’s Diet?
Hindus are vegetarian too they respect their pagan God the Cow !
Christians also respect their pagan God the Lamb, so they eat only grass like Hindus do.
What a silly religion !
Wait … what?
Where on earth do you get the idea that Christians are vegetarians? Or that only Christians are vegetarians?
Either you’re just trolling (which I hope,) or you’re sadly, sadly misinformed. It’s quite unfortunate to call someone or something silly when you have the facts so badly twisted.
How long would it take a bristle nose catfish to fully grow?
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010I bought a bristle nose catfish today to add into my 15 gallon community tank, and so far it’s only about 2-3cm, so no larger than an inch. Given a varied Diet of peas, cucumbers, catfish pellets, bloodworms and maybe zucchinis/courgettes, how long should it take to become fully grown?
I heard they get up to 10cm (about 4inches). Is this true?
Thanks
I keep the bristle nosed plecos (also called bushynosed) in almost all of my tanks. They are always busy cleaning up food that the other fish miss (I tend to overfeed on occasion).
My biggest BN’s are about 5-6 inches. This is about as big as they get. In my experience, it typically takes them about 10-12 months to achieve adult size. They can start spawning at around 4" if they are conditioned properly. Give them a cave that the male (the one with bristles) can get into and block the opening. He will entice the female (no bristles) into the cave and spawn with her. After she leaves, the male stays in the cave (protecting them from predators and fanning the eggs to keep O2 flowing around them) until the eggs hatch and the fry (babies) are free swimming.
Actually the size a fish reaches does not depend on the size of the tank. It all depends on the diet they are fed and keeping them housed in fresh water by doing regular, weekly, partial (30-40%) water changes to keep the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels low.
It sounds like you are feeding a well rounded diet including the bloodworms. I would think yours will grow quickly. At only an inch long, yours is probably only 4-6 weeks old.
I blanch my zucchini after cutting it into thin slices (1/4 inch), then freeze it on a cookie sheet. Once frozen, you can store it in zip lock bags in the freezer to feed any time you want. The blanching allows the slices to sink to the bottom when they thaw in the tank water. No weights are needed.
