Is religion like a poor diet choice for your mind; choosing comfort food over healthy food?

Is religion junk food for your mind?

hmm. Even those who reject religion have a religion… Religion to you may look like rhetoric, but at the core of religion is faith. It takes faith to believe there is no god. To make such a claim one must put themselves in the place of god as being all-knowing, and all-present. As such, to claim "there is no god" is a faith statement. albeit an inaccurate assumption.

More like drugs. It leads you to believe that things which aren’t real, are.

Religion is the health food which I think you are missing in your diet.

It is easier to go to Mc Donalds and it is easier to Sin….So I would say having faith and walking in the light should be compared to health food…

    Answer: Yes.

It’s like the salad at McDonalds. It looks healthy, and they tell us it’s healthy, but in reality it has sh1tload of calories.

geez I think you have overindulged in "mind" food to think of this question. I really don’t see any relevance in associating religion to a particular diet.

Mac Donald’s is bad for physical health and religion bad for mental health.

The two seem to go hand in hand in America. Those Southern states anyway.

Jesus warned about the leaven of the pharisses.. Leaven being yeast/ we grind the whole grain to powder then add leaven to puff it up and make it more palatble.. Makes it seem like we are wolfing down more than we really are. The whole grain is the word of God/ the leaven is the added doctrine written by the holy rollers who are not reaally holy after all.. It is better to simply eat a bowl of whole grain cereal than to eat a whole loaf of enriched breadd

Religion in the unreasoned, never questioned, superstitious and culturally practised sense is very poor for body, mind and spirit.

Get it right - religion is a business that people invest in, but get no monetary return. Everybody knows that. And I would always choose ‘comfort food’ over so-called ‘healthy food’. Tofu, soy and fibre tastes like sh!t.

Interesting analogy. I think of religion as being like a diet full of supplements that you follow until you learn that supplements aren’t needed; all you have to do is eat healthy and in moderate portions.

It’s not junk food; it’s what’s between junk food and the right food.
