The Cleveland Clinic remains one of the nation's 'top 10' hospitals. It would be helpful to know what type of surgery you are having done. In the vast majority of cases someone is allowed to stay with you overnight. If after the surgery you require a stay in an intensive care unit they are likely to restrict visitors. You will be provided with a menu although the type of surgery may dictate your choices. People are also allowed to bring you food if the surgeon does not restrict your diet. I wish you the very best of health and in all things may God bless.
