Is Calorie Cycling a Crash Diet? Does it work for permanent fat loss?

It can facilitate quick body fat reduction if done properly but only permanent changes to your diet will be sustainable. In other words once you reach your goal body fat percentage you need to adjust your intake to match your body weight. The only reason in theory people cycle their caloric intake is to avoid the eventual metabolic slow down that occurs on highly restrictive Diets. Athletes do basically the same thing in reverse by increasing the amount they eat on days they train to avoid running into a calorie deficit.
