Can I get *more* sick when I have the flu from contact with other people with the flu?
I’m coming down with a flu and doing my best to boost my immune system so that I can stop it before it becomes full blown (taking airborne, vitamin c, drinking lots of water, staying away from alcohol and caffeine). I’m usually successful at stopping colds this way.
Anyway, my wife already has the same flu. Her symptoms started a few days ago. Now she is very very sick. I am just starting to come down with symptoms today and don’t want to get as bad as she is.
My question is: should I avoid contact with her? Will sharing the same bed with her make me sicker? Or does it matter whether you are exposed to a little of the virus or a lot? I don’t know much about flu germs, but I’d think the more germs that get into your body the easier it would be for them to spread.

Well, if its viral… Not really, I mean, it takes millions of infected cells to even start experiencing immune reactions, where as you would probably only be getting a few extra of that virus from contact with another infected person. If you have symptoms, there are already millions and millions of that particular virus floating around your body, the best thing you can do now is be positive, rest, eat well, and take good immune boosting herbs/food.
Ginseng, raw Garlic (minced and left to sit 15 mins, eat on a full stomach), Oregano (oil), Shiitake Mushrooms, Green Tea, Kombucha, Vitamin C in small doses every hour or so, Rooibos Tea etc…

No extra exposure is going to make you sicker. You have the flu, if she came down with it first, she will get better first.
