Pregnancy Weight Gain- How Much Does Your Diet/Exercise Effect It?
I am days shy of 26 weeks and have gained 21 pounds. Some say that is too much seeing as how the baby only weighs a pound or two right now. But I have read on multiple sights its 5 pounds for first trimester and a pound a week there after, which puts me really close to where I should be. RIGHT?
Any how I do exercise and eat fairly healthy. Will I be able to make sure I don’t gain TOO much weight or does your body just do what it does?
I think it varies depending on different people. I myself am 21 weeks pregnant and I have only gained 5 pounds. My doctor says that I am doing fine and my baby is perfectly healthy. But I also have my best friend who is 23 weeks pregnant and she has gained around 20 pounds and they tell her the same thing. So I would say as long as your are not to concerned and your doctor isn’t concerned then you are fine. I know that I have read on many different websites about weight gain during pregnancy and if you look at whether you are over-, under-, or average weight, it will tell you how much weight you should gain. But then again I have also read that after your first trimester is over you are supposed to gain a pound a week. So I have heard about what you said. I do hope this helps a little. Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!

The doctors say a woman of healthy weight before your pregnancy should gain anywhere from 25-30 lbs during their pregnancy. bigger woman should gain less, but with my first pregnancy i was 130 lbs before i became pregnant and gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy. I ate healthy and tried to keep my weight down, but i just couldn’t seem to. This time around I have been put on bed rest and I am gaining and can’t exercise, so im afraid of how much I will gain before it is all said and done.

i didnt gain any weight until i was about 25 weeks… right now i am 38 weeks and have gained almost 30 pounds! but ever since around 25 weeks ive been eating out a lot more instead of eating food from home so i guess thats the reason why BUT oddly enough people keep telling me i look thinner then when i started the pregnancy (you know except for the huge watermelon im carrying around in my tummy) so i cant wait to actually have the baby and see how much i lost or gained since the starting weight

Well…I started at 115 and exercised every day my entire first pregnancy, cut out soda, didn’t eat any fast food..all that good stuff…I went up to a WHOPPING 180 lbs!!! lol, it was insane, my ass was huge! You are fine in weight gain as long as your doctor isn’t worried. With this pregnancy, I’ve really said eff it, I haven’t exercised once since my back started hurting and I will admit, I’ve eaten fast food and drink atleast one soda a day. I’m 33 weeks and I’ve gained about 20 lbs, which is amazing compared to the 45 I had gained with my first.
I think it just depends on each pregnancy. Being pregnant, you’ll gain weight, some more than others, but it is something that your baby or your body needs to do in order for you both to be healthy.

Your body will do it’s own thing. If you are underweight or target you usually gain 20-40lbs. If overweight you usually gain up to 15 lbs, but most people lose it rapidly, especially if breastfeeding.

Hey hun
I put on around 2 1/2 stones (around 35lb) during my pregnancy - I put the majority of it on in the last 6-8 wks. I have a fairly healthy diet (I’m veggie) and I tried to walk at least a mile a day (until I was about 36wks). I personally think that no matter what the baby will make you eat what it needs and there’s nothing wrong with putting on a bit of weight you’re preggers lol. When I had my daughter I lost around 1 1/4 stones (17lbs) and am steadily losing the rest by breastfeeding (each feed takes 500cals. Hope this helps xxx
