Diet and Fitness related question..?
I`m really trying to be healthier now and pick the right foods and add some exercise to my daily life. I`m not doing this to loose weight but if it happens great. I start my day with oatmeal (cinnamon flavor - reduced sugar) and some fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, rasberries) then at about 10am I`ll have an apple or a peach. For lunch i`ll sometimes have a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers. Other days for lunch i`ll have half a chicken breast with a little rice (not too too much). Then at about 430pm i`ll have 5 crackers with a slice of swiss cheese. For supper i`ll have whatever my parents make but in a smaller quantity (for example this could be chicken and salad or other days pasta (I try to limit this to no more than twice a week), or fish and vegetables. For exercise, i`ve been doing the tredmile for about 25 minutes each night, burning 200 calories.
I`d appreciate some feedback on what I should add or adjust, thankyou
It’s great, but try making the oatmeal yourself in the morning. Those pre-made things say reduced sugar, but they replace it with chemicals that are just as bad, if not worse for you, and besides that, they don’t even reduce that much sugar. If you make it your self, you can control exactly what goes into it, without all of those tricks they use to make you buy it because you think it’s healthier, but it still tastes delicious, when really it’s almost always just as bad for you or worse. Other than that, not bad.

drinks 8 glass of water day
and take a multivitamin
so far you doing very well!
t get you motivated i suggest googling the health benefits of what you eat like health benefits of peaches , broccoli etc.
when you read the stuff that tells you what you get from it " shiny hair smooth skin etc. it makes want to keep going on with your new diet
btw if you fry anything use olive oil or coconut oil (extra virgin )
you can also drizzle a bit on your food
and a glass of red wine everyday
best wishes and cheers to your health!

That all sounds really good! Fresh fruit is great for you! Be careful with your salad to not throw in too much "bad stuff" like bacon, a lot of cheese, heavy dressings, etc. Try to add in some extra walking by parking in far out parking spots. I got a cheap pedometer to count how many steps I take every day… shoot for 10,000 steps (5 miles) but make it a game to go a little farther every day. When you do have a day where you don’t get your exercise in or you don’t eat right, don’t beat yourself up! Just make sure you get back to it the next day. GOOD LUCK!

You do not say how old you are but for a growing teen it sounds like you have created a healthy diet.
A couple of questions:
1: What do you use for salad dressing? Many people are self-deceptive. They eat lots of greens but pour about 600 calories of oil-infested gunk over it which is more calories than a double whopper!
2: What kind of milk do you use on your cereal? If it is whole milk, cut back to skim. It is half the calories and when you get used to the taste, it is just as nourishing.
3: When you say chicken, do you mean without the skin and the fat trimmed? The difference not only doubles the calories but puts enough chicken fat in your arteries that they could stand alone without you.
It is the invisible foods like dressings and milk and the fat and skin on poultry that adds 750 - 1000 "invisible" calories a day.
Your diet intentions and exercise should give your overall health and appearance a nice boost. If you are still growing, your adult shape will not fully evolve until you are in the last year of HS or even later. Even though girls go through their menses at earlier ages, their bodies are still not adult until their late teens.
You are one of the most sensible people I have encountered here. It is a pleasure talking to someone who knows what she is doing and still asks intelligent questions to get it ever "righter." I know … there is no such word as righter, but it fits, don’t you think?
