Can taking birth control pills cause kidney stones?
I’m 16 and I take birth control pills. My guardians think it’s to make my monthly less heavier and longer but actually it’s because i’m sexually active and that’s between me and my doctor. I’ve heard that birth control pills can cause kidney stones. Do they? And if so what can i take that is also birth control that doesn’t cause them? And I don’t want my guardians knowing i’m currently sexually active.

Any kind of birth control will cause kidney stones, it doesn’t matter what kind. It worsens as you get older, so since you are 16 you are probably okay. Don’t smoke, because then you have the added risk of blood clots.

kidney stones are the result of abnormal buildup of calcium in the kidneys, check with your doctor or look online for the side effects of the specific medication you are taking.
good luck
