How fast can cholesterol be lowered?

I have an LDL cholesterol of 232.Following a healthy diet and an exercise of 2 hours every day for 4 days a week,how much can i lower my ldl and how quickly?i am a male,23 years old and my weight is normal.also there are no other medical problems.

OMG Are you sure that’s your LDL and not your total cholesterol?? That’s extremely and dangerously high if that’s your LDLs.

When my cholesterol first shot up, i was determined that i would do whatever i could to cut it down, and as quickly as possible. I cut out red meat completely, i cut out starchy vegetables like potatoes, corn, hominy and stuff like that. I started eating tons of oatmeal and whole grain breads and making changes like not eating white rice, and switching to brown rice. Much healthier for you in the long run. Avoid white breads, things with white flour in them and eating more chicken and fish. But avoid almost everything that’s fried. Once in a while it’s ok to eat something fried, but you want it fried in olive oil, rather than corn or vegetable oil, because they are higher in the bad fats and lower in the good fats. Olive oil has the unsaturated fats and the mono and poly unsaturated fats that do your body good. When making something that requires oil, substitute for olive oil. They even have olive oil out now that has very little taste, so you don’t even notice the difference.

Besides eating lots of oatmeal and whole-grain foods, you can also remove the skin from your chicken and eat chicken either baked or roasted or cooked in a skillet with no oil, instead using a small amount of water and some white wine or cooking wine, along with herbs to season up the meat. Believe me, it’s a lot better for you, and it’s very tasty.

Eat a lot of raw vegetables or steamed vegetables. They have more nutrients that way and they will also help lower cholesterol. They now sell packets of vegetables that you can keep in your freezer and then microwave them when you’re ready to eat them and they are absolutely delicious. Make sure you read the labels, though, because some products are misleading.

Watch the kind of margarine that you use, some are better than others with their amounts of fats and cholesterol.

Just following those things and the exercise can lower your total cholesterol significantly in as little as 3-6 months. I know mine dropped drastically in 3 months just following some of those Diet tips, and i can’t even exercise because of a serious issue with my back.

    The best kept secret on this subject are 2 products; one is called called OPC-3 …. and the other is called ORAC. Your doctor does not know about it.

    Here is how you use OPC / ORAC:

    Each product I am talking about is a powder. You measure the powder by the cap full. You would put 4 caps of product in a tall glass. The clear cap you will see that comes with every bottle is also a measuring device so that you can add the correct amount of water … it works out to one ounce of water per single cap-full of powder (with either OPC or ORAC) You need to take an equal amount of each one.
