Diet help please???????

Please, answer all questions individually???

I’m a vegetarian, so it’s hard for me to get alot of protein without eating alot of peanut butter, which is really fattening too, and I’m trying to get more protein into my diet and still lose weight. I’m 5′2" and 130 lbs and I would like to lose about 10 - 15 lbs before summer time. I’m thinking about adding nuts to my Diet, but I don’t know which ones are best and how much I should eat daily. The only nuts I actually like are cashews, peanuts and almonds. Out of these three, which nut is best to eat while trying to lose weight??? And how much of this nut should I eat daily???

I do eat some beans to help me get more protein into my diet. The only beans I like are the canned pork and beans (I NEVER eat the actual pork fat that comes in the can!!!). But I heard the other day that they’re actually fattening and not good for you. For a serving (which is 1/2 cup) they have 110 calories, 10 from fat, 1 gram of fat, and 6 grams of protein. Sounds pretty healthy to me, but I want to hear what other people say about them.

And my workout, which I do everyday, is a half an hour on my exercising bike, burning an average of 600 - 850 calories, just depending on the speed I pedal. And then I also play a half an hour of intense DDR which burns between 300 - 400 calories. And every other day I add in 30 reps of crunches, 30 reps of sit ups and 30 leg twists in a plank pose to work my abs a little so they’re not as flabby. Will I lose weight with this workout?? And of course, continue to eat healthy with it as well.

I really wanna be able to jog, cause it’s really good for you, and it burns fat off your bum, which I really need, but my parents won’t let me out of the house, and I’m home schooled, so there’s no jogging to school for me either. I also cannot go to a gym or anything like that. I’m thinking about jogging back and forth in my upstairs hallway. It’s about 8 feet long, I’m guessing, from my bedroom door to the top of the stair case. Would this work instead of really jogging?? And to burn fat off my bum? I’ll probably do a half an hour a night.

And does bike riding burn fat off your bum too??

One last question:

Is this a healthy breakfast??

I have one package of unsweetened brown sugar and maple syrup flavored oatmeal (which is one hundred calories) with a cup of a berry mixture (the mixture has raspberries, blackberries and strawberries in it and 66 calories for a cup) and a glass of green tea.

Thanks so much everyone!!!!

I’m a vegetarian so I’ve found many ways to get protein without eating meat. My main suggestion for protein is tofu because it is a low-calorie, low-fat, high-protein food. Soy nuggets and veggie burgers are also generally high in protein and taste great. I personally love black beans and kidney beans. I try to stay away from eating nuts myself because of the fat grams, but I believe a serving is generally around 23 pieces (I’m not positive about peanuts though). I believe almonds are the best.

Just for the record, when you eat canned pork and beans you are eating meat. The sauce that the beans soak in (and absorb) contain tiny pieces of meat and meat juice so you might not want to eat them if you’re a vegetarian.

As long as you are consistent with your workout, you will burn fat. You may not lose weight because muscle weighs more than fat, but you will become leaner.

I don’t know if running back and forth will be quite as effective as going out of a straight jog because having to keep turning around won’t really keep you going at a steady pace. But again, it will help. All movement help burn calories.

I would say that’s a healthy breakfast. One last suggestion, drink green tea before you exercise. Studies have show that the ingredients help loosen fat and make it easier to burn.

Have you tried getting your protein from soy?

Your workout seems suitable for your situation.

Plain oatmeal with bananas is good and probably healthier. You won’t have to add any extra sugar because of the bananas. I don’t know about the "unsweetened brown sugar and maple syrup flavored oatmeal"

    Green tea is always good.
