I dont go poop for many days at a time. I eat a fibre diet and tons of water, help me!?

I use to go poop regulary, and now i dont go for days at a time. I am very healthy eating a high fibre Diet, lots of water, and regular exercise. My doctor said take senekot, and it helps but now i am reliable on it. I barely go at all if i dont take it. I use to be very regular but for the last 4 months i havent been. I have tried activia yogurt, which a year ago, made me go twice a day, and now i dont go for days still. help!

I would suggest you see a doctor & have your thyroid checked but first do the Barnes Basal temperature test to check your thyroid (which is more accurate than lab tests) An abnormally low basal body temp will tell if your metabolism has slowed down. Have you gained weight also?

Instructions

Basal body temperature (BBT) is your temperature when you first wake up in the morning. Before you even get out of bed to brush your teeth or start your day, pop a basal thermometer (available at drugstores) into your mouth. This thermometer shows the minute incremental degree changes that a regular one can’t. Most basal thermometers come with a temperature plotting chart. Make some extra copies of the chart.

1. Purchase a basal thermometer (available at drugstores). This thermometer shows the minute incremental degree changes that a regular one can’t.

3. Shake the thermometer down before going to bed to 96 degrees or less and put it by your bedside.

4. In the morning, as soon as you wake up, put the thermometer deep in your armpit for ten minutes and record the temperature. Do this before you get out of bed, have anything to eat or drink, or engage in any activity. This will measure your lowest temperature of the day, which correlates with thyroid gland function. The normal underarm temperature averages 97.8-98.2 degrees F. We frequently recommend treatment if the temperature averages 97.4 or less. The temperature should be taken for four days.

5. Each time you are taking your temperature, it is imperative that you take both axillary (underarm) and oral (mouth) temperatures. Both temperatures need to be taken upon waking up as well as three hours later and then six hours after that. It is important to do this for four days and to follow these instructions carefully in order to get accurate results.

6. For women, the temperature should be taken starting the second day of menstruation. The reason is because a considerable temperature rise may occur around the time of ovulation and give incorrect results. If you miss a day, that is okay, but be sure to finish the testing before ovulation. For men, and for postmenopausal women, it makes no difference when the temperatures are taken. However, do not do the test when you have an infection or any other condition which would raise your temperature.

Quit eating meat and limit your dairy, except for yogurt. Eat tons of fruit and vegetables. Eating meat has a huge effect on how often you can poop..

It seems like you’re doing everything right. I’d just ask if you’re getting enough to eat, I’ve known people who didn’t eat and so they didn’t poop for days. Try to find a specialist doctor. You might just need to be on laxatives forever, sorry.

Ask your doctor to recommend you to a bowel specialist. You may have what is called a lazy colon with pockets that prevent the digested food moving easily through.Sometimes if this can be flushed out , colonic irrigation, it helps.
Other helpful things are plenty of olive oil in the diet.Drinking hot water while attempting evacuation. Stomach massage, trying to massage the stool towards the lower colon. A naturopath can show you how.Visiting the loo when you are relaxed, and preferably at the same time each day. The more uptight you feel, Good luckthe less likely you are to achieve a result. Eat plenty of bulk, fruit and vegetables and dried prunes.
