ive started a diet and im gainging instead of loosing? please help?

hey, i recently started a diet.. monday.. and ive been doing so much exercise, eating lots and lots of fruit, im having low calorie foods and no crapppy foods… but not water im wondering if thats what im doing wrong?
well i need help to know why im gainging instead of loosing weight?
please help me… thanks xx

It’s difficult to say without knowing exactly what you’ve been eating, However, I can think of a few possibilities.
First, exercise will increase your muscle mass, which weighs more than the fat tissue you’d have lost, though as you’ve only recently started the diet and exercise, this may not be the case.
Second, you need to give the diet time to work; changing your diet will alter your digestion and gut transit time (how long food stays in your between eating it and going to the loo), so your body may take a little while to adjust, and for you to see results.
Third, your new diet may cause more retention of water, which will also adjust once your body is used to it.
Also maybe you’re at a point in your menstrual cycle where you’re more likely to feel a bit heavier and retain water, and this will also pass.

As a side note, while fruit is very healthy for you, and good as a nutritious snack, it is pretty high in sugar, so you might be better cutting it down slightly and substituting it with some slow-release (low glycaemic index) carbohydrates, like brown rice, porridge, wholemeal bread, baked/boiled potatoes. These will fill you up for longer and will be great fuel for all this exercise you’re doing.

I hope your diet goes well - don’t try to drop too much weight too quickly, and don’t go below a healthy BMI. If you are still struggling, maybe see your GP about healthy Dieting tips.

You need to drink water but you probably cut your caloric intake so much that your body entered starvation mode. You also need to make sure you get enough protein in your diet to conserve muscle mass.

without giving any info on your diet, daily routine and exercise strategy its not that simple to say why you gained weight.

weight gain is usually down to overeating, which leads to either an increase in muscle mass or extra body fat.

the best way thing to do is keep a food diary and note down everything you eat so you can keep track of your intake.

I would hazard a guess that you simply ate too many calories or the wrong serving sizes of the foods you ate.
