Will my workout and diet help me gain lean mass? Could you suggest some that could?
I generally do two Workouts a day everyday usually an hour and a half each once in the morning once at night, in the morning using a 40 lbs. Weight Vest and at Night without it. I was obese like a year or two ago, but lost like 80 lbs at the most went from 220 lbs, to 140 lbs, then gained 10 lbs. I had a lot of extra skin, and it bothered me, so I thought working out would help but i didn’t start until like a more than half a year after that, so I’ve been working out for like 5 or 6 months now, adding exercises and reps each week. I just recently bought the vest, and 25 lbs dumbbells, ( dumbbells this week, vest last month) Yeah.. I know I totally sound like a wimp xD but my workouts are separated as
Morning ( Vest)
Crunches 4 sets of 45 Reps each side ( 1 exercise)
Bicycle Crunches 4 sets of 45 reps each side ( 2 exercises)
Knee Crunches 4 sets of 30 reps each side + center ( 1 Exercise)
Plank 4 sets 30 sec, each 10 sec break between ( 1 Exercise)
Forearm Curls 2 sets non-stop 2-4 min each 8 lbs weight ( 2 exercises)
Concentration Curls 8 sets 25 reps 25 lbs. ( 2 Exercises)
Standing Curls 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs (standing curls to Hammer curls 1 exercise)
Standing Shoulder press 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs
Upright Rows 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs
Hammer Curls 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs
Chest flies 5 sets of 10 reps 25 lbs (Chest Flies and Chest Press 1 exercise)
Chest Press 5 sets of 10 reps 25 lbs
Night Without
Crunches 4 sets of 50 Reps each side ( 1 exercise)
Bicycle Crunches 4 sets of 50 reps each side ( 1 exercise)
Knee Crunches 1 set of 35 reps each side + center ( 1 Exercise)
Jack Knives 40 reps (interchangeable by day) Leg lifts 200 reps ( 1 exercise)
(Not sure what these are called) lay flat on the ground and do a crunch while bringing the knees in to touch the chest bellow the neck 3 sets of 40 reps after each set invisible chair of 40 sec with the 8 lbs punches ( 1 exercise)
Sit Ups/ Twist ups 2 sets of 95 reps ( 1 exercise)
Pull Up / Chin Up 2 sets 10 reps inward + outward ( 1 exercise)
Forearm Curls 2 sets non-stop 2-4 min each 8 lbs weight ( 2 exercises)
Concentration Curls 8 sets 25 reps 25 lbs. ( 2 Exercises)
Standing Curls 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs (standing curls to Hammer curls 1 exercise)
Standing Shoulder press 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs
Upright Rows 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs
Hammer Curls 3 sets 10 reps 25 lbs
Chest flies 5 sets of 10 reps 25 lbs (Chest Flies and Chest Press 1 exercise)
Chest Press 5 sets of 10 reps 25 lbs
and 25 squats after each Exercise
25 ground push up variation after first 6 exercises, then invisible chair for 45 sec, and 30 sec after each time then, Full Corkscrew Punching 10 times with 8 lbs. weights after each 5 sec breathe
After the first 6 ground push ups, I move into elevated push ups 6 sets of 30 after each set of squats, and abandon the invisible chair.
I eat a minimum of 60 g protein a day, but generally eat twice that or more calorie wise i don’t count
I’m Vegetarian so i eat a lot of veggie burgers, muscle milk, oats, peanut butter, egg whites, and beans. I’ve been vegetarian for about 2 years now, and its a lifestyle thing I recently started eating more yogurt too, but not much, because it kind of upsets my stomach, same with Cheese but i eat that a lot more. Also, I take multiple amino acid tablets before working out and after eating one meal, and i take l-arginine before eating, I generally don’t eat before workouts ever, and separate the workouts by at least 5 hours, usually more because i take naps in between.
I’ve noticed most of my skin has been going away, and I’m getting a bit of definition in my arms, pecs, back, and mid abs, but not much of an increase in size, only abou ta quarter of an inch since starting, and another since getting the dumbbells, and I’ve got a bit of pesky lower belly skin that won’t go away, and I’m not too big in size.. I’m male 16 y/o around 150 lbs, 6′0 in height. I’d really like to build a bit more in size maybe like 15 - 20 lbs of muscle, but I’m not sure if I’m doing right at all, I’m a lot leaner and more cut than like 6 months ago, but as i said,not much bigger maybe by like 1/2 to 1 inch bigger all around. Any suggestions on what to do?
