Can anyone give me information on a high protein diet?
I have been having everyone tell me to do the high protein Diet. Does this really help? Benefits, and disadvantages of this.
LOL…so many opinions, make it easy.Follow a good nutrition plan with simple carbs maybe a 40/20/20 ratio. Everyone has an opinion but at the end of the day you have to do what works for you. If you can find a NASM certified FITPRO that can help you Good luck

This will merely cause you to lose water weight. Water and carbs get stored together so your body will lose water.
High protein diet is a terrible idea. Buring protein for energy is toxic and leads to a slew of bad things, too many to list here.
Not too mention that carbs are where you get all your vitamins and nutrients from.
Not too mention that you will probably be taking in a lot of sat. fats from a high protein diet.
This is a bad idea, good on you for not blindly listening.

I guess anyone can call themselves a personal trainer…sheeeesh..
Define "high protein diet" first… most people can’t even say what is high protein verses a low carb or fat diet.. They just state "high protein diets are bad" really? what constitutes a high protein diet?
To answer your question.. you should do your own research. Look at Gary Taubs Good Calories Bad Calories, try http://www.atkins.com or http://www.southbeach.com all advocate lowering your simple carbs to lose weight. I’ve been watching my simple carbs for 6 yrs now and have kept off the 50 lbs I lost 6 yrs ago. I started with Atkins phase 1, then migrated to just watching the processed flour and sugar products while excercising regularly.
My idea of enough protein since I lift weights is at least 1 gram of protein for each pound of lean body weight. I usually dont go over 1.5 grams on any given day. This would be the equivelant of eating about 4 chicken breasts a day.. what some would consider a "high protein diet".. which I find laughable.
Do the research, learn about simple and complex carbs, saturated, unsaturated poly unsaturated, and trans fats, protein sources.. and enjoy. If you are educated about it, there are no disadvantages because you can address the uneducated who try and tell you its unhealthy to be on "high protein diets" when they have no idea what it is..
