With more diet information available than ever, why do you think Americans are heavier than ever?

Because many are still into convenience and fast food is handy, restaurants still serve huge portions, and having information available doesn’t mean people heed it…how long have we (in general) known smoking was bad for us, and yet no matter how high the price of ciggs gets jacked up, people still smoke…

I think it is because our bodies don’t know how to process health food! Like, if we remove the fat from something (for instance, fat free cheese), we have to put *something* else in it to make it taste good! This is actually known as the "American Paradox", or "Nutritionism". It’s the idea that as people become more obsessed with health, they become unhealthier.

Try out the source I’ve listed below–it’s a really quick read, and discusses the American Paradox in detail.

I think its because a lot of people still refuse to take personal responsibility. They want a quick fix like a diet pill. Nobody wants to implement diet and exercise and put in the effort. Our society is all about instant gratification and convenience.
