    if i fast for several days (eating nothing, drinking only water, coffee, juice or diet soda) how much weight will i lose? i’m 13 4′11" and like 120 lbs. i kinda wanna weigh only 110.

    You really have no need to lose weight at your age….you are still growing and fasting can be dangerous and stunt your growth.

    Now, if you fasted for maybe 24 hours once a week, that can have benefits. Just be very careful. There is a whole article about that in this month’s Men’s Health

    drink only black coffee, water or diet soda, no juice, its pretty high in calories u should lose around 2 pounds a day for a week but then the weight loss slows down and u nly lose a pound a day, drink green tea if u wanna keep ur metabolism fast, if ur metabolism is fast u lose weight quicker

    you can only fast 3 days tos so you wont loose 10lbs and as soon as you stop you will gain it all back just diet and increase exorcise

    Very bad idea. Your brain will note the drop in food and begin to conserve energy. You will not lose fat this way, but you will lose bone and muscle, because you’re not providing any calcium or protein. You will end up weak, tired, and with less muscle and the same amount of fat.

    Don’t you think if this was a brilliant plan that worked everyone would do it, and nobody would be fat?

    BTW, there are more than 403, 000 recently resolved questions on YA about fasting and weight loss. Did you look at any of those before you posted yours?

    Im 5′8" and I was 137 lbs when I fasted in truibute/protest earlier this month. I went from 137 to 131 in 3and 1/2 days.
    The first couple of days are the hardest to get past, cravings-wise. But after the first few days your body will accept the lack of food and use itself for energy. That’s only if it is an all-water fast though. Any form of calories will deter your body from using itself as an energy source. (even gum which you don’t even swallow, and diet soda which many people consider to have one calorie per can). Water is the only thing that is not going to ruin what you work for, so if you get the munchies, crunch some ice cubes.
    I read a lot about why your body does what it does, why this works so fast, and what to do to make your body do this for you by searching google, too.
