5 Great (free) Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Diet

5 Simple Ways to Aid Your Fat Loss

1. Utilize "After burn!"

Okay, so what is this "After burn" mumbo-jumbo? It is the period after your body is active where it recovers. Rebuilding muscle fibers and replenishing the readily available vitamin stores in the body takes not only time, but ENERGY! So the harder you work out the more calories you will burn at the time, but also AFTER you’re done for several hours.  This will aid in your weight loss! And the next one is a no brainer…

2. Eat for your daily plans!

If you plan to be active eat carbs to supply you with energy, protein to help rebuild, and some more fat than usual is OK because it will be burned off during the "after burn" of your activity. What is after burn? Read on.

3. Stop Drinking Soda!

Okay, so here’s how it works: Soda is high in sugar. When you drink soda this causes your insulin levels to spike to a relatively high levels. One of the main purposes of insulin is to regulate fat storage in the body, so by having such high levels of it you will in effect increase the amount of fat stored/retained. Also remember that usually you will be eating high cal foods while you’re drinking soda. This applies to anything with high sugar. Which is why…

4. Exercise!

There’s a simple equation for losing weight. Energy expended>energy intake = weight loss. If you eat more than you burn of COURSE you’re going to gain weight. That’s why the steriotype of a banker is fat (since he sits in a chair counting money) and a construction worker is fit! But there’s another side to the coin…

5. Diet!

if Energy expended > energy intake = weight loss, and exercise increases the energy expended… what if we also reduced the energy intake? That would be hitting it from both angles! Dieting doesn’t have to be painful. Most of todays consumer foods aren’t built to make you feel full but to satisfy your taste buds. Eat a cupcake, then eat a quarter pound of broccoli. Which makes you feel fuller? The quarter pound of broccoli in your gut of course. But the net calories of so much green food is actually less than that cup cake!

How to lose 30lb in 6 months - tips and suggestions?
I’m a college female student that weighs 178. I made a bet with a friend to lose 30lbs by september when I join her at her college. My biggest vice is soda, which I have sworn off of as of 2 weeks ago. I can work-out for free at my college’s fitness center and have set it up to work out Tues/Thurs/Fri for an hour to and hour and a half lifting weights and doing some cardio. On Mon/Wed/Sat I’m planning on focusing on only cardio and jogging with my (also) overweight dog. I’m hoping to go swimming twice a week once the pools open here. I realize muscle mass weighs more than body fat and this regiment will most likely add a couple pounds before burning anything, but I want to do this in a healthy way. My biggest problem isn’t working out, although tips would be great. Mostly I have issues with choosing foods that are ACTUALLY good for me. Not foods that claim to be (i.e. milk, most cereals, etc). I need some meal plans and to know what snack foods would be good to munch on (yogurt, carrots, pretzels?). I also need help finding ways to keep myself motivated for the next 6 months. Absolutely any tips or suggestions will be great, but keep in mind I am a poor college student and cannot afford to go buy tons of teas, drugs, surgeries, or whatever. I need normal foods that I can incorporate into my diet. Thank you for your time and thought-through, more-than-one-sentence replies.

Any balanced diet of about 1200 calories with all food variety will be ok. Try to drink 8 glasses of water à day and go on exercising.

healthy snacks are veggies and fruits and also light dairy products.

One reason why most diets fail is because we are used to have some foods that fulfill our needs for sweet. First of these foods is often chocolate. Chocolate fights depression and give us a peaceful sensation almost immediately. It’s rich in minerals and vitamins but very caloric. The chocolate diet includes some controlled absorptions during the day that will help you to have that delicious feeling and lose weight at the same time.

There is no question here of taking chocolate, pasta and pop corns every day but of healthy balanced menus for two weeks containing an unstopping variety of foods: dairy products, fruits and vegetables, starchy foods, meat and fish, etc.

The principle is to play on the light but by agreeing chocolate and a small pleasure sometimes to hold over the duration and not to feel frustrations. It promises between 2 and 6 pounds a week according to the weight to lose.

It says you can lose 9 pounds in 11 days, but it is closer to about 2-3 pounds. It is a very good diet, no pills, no nothing except food. You don’t even have to exercise to lose weight, but if you want to lose more, walking for 30 minutes a day helps.

i don’t know how you would feel about this but im a vegetarian and when i first met my fiancee he was a little over weight also… when i got pregnant with my son i was very emotional and cried every time he ate meat.. so he just stop eating it to make me happy and just by cutting out meat he lost ALOT of weight. meat is filled with fat that clings to your body and when you cut it out of your diet your body starts to digest that extra fat resulting in you loosing weight… in order to keep enough protein eat eggs and fish…. my brother also cut out only red meat and still ate chicken and turkey and such and lost alot of weight that way… if you think about it by not eating meat it also force you to eat a little healthier in other ways like have a salad for dinner instead of a grease and fat filled hamburger… good luck

Personally, I munch on things like tomatoes, carrots, cut up fruit, low fat yogurt- the list is endless. Just make sure that you fill your cart with as many veggies and fruits as possible, and allow yourself only one thing in the cart with more than 3% fat content. So no chips, no butter, no oil (the exception is olive oil), no cold cuts, no fatty meat. You’ll find that although you will have more in your cart, without the expensive cheeses and meats it might even cost less, depending on what veggies you buy.

When it comes to exercise, I do half an hour cardio almost every day, and then I do some pilates moves. Altogether, it’s mostly different variations of leg lifts, crunches, planks and push-ups. All I need is a mat for these things, but a medicine ball (2-5kg) can make your training more intense. Come up with new ways to work the muscles and to do the moves. The main thing is to get the muscle burning. If you’re working out at a fitness center, have a look around and copy what other people are doing.

All together, this should be a good plan for losing weight. Just always drink a lot of water.

Here’s another way to plan your meals:
A lot of people say that it is best to eat 6 small meals a day. This is not only more expensive, but you end up eating more food than absolutely necessary.

    Breakfast:
a healthy carbohydrate (something whole-grain) with low-fat protein (skimmed milk, cottage cheese, diet ham) with two pieces of fruit or veggies.

    Lunch:
mostly veggies (salad with tomato and cucumber and olive oil with vinegar) with a piece of lean meat or fish (grilled chicken, steamed salmon, etc.)

    Dinner:
Something light and not too fatty. Try miso soup or veggie patties with cream spinach!

For snacks, just do the usual apple or banana or something.
